The Glory Of God Is In The Room. 

In September of 2023, I spent some time with 3DanceCompany. I met Luis and Mariah at a conference prior that summer, and was eager to capture this part of their story. The day started well, we all were on time, and ready to take on the day. I will never forget the way God wanted His glory to shine through. I booked a studio space, and on that day the owner of the studio overslept. I immediately felt the need to depend on The Lord in a way I hadn’t creatively. Luis prompted us to start praying for provision for a space. We called a couple of friends and they opened their home to us, As we were leaving I ran into a friend who owned a studio space in the same building and graciously lent us his space when we explained what had happened. It was in that room that The Glory of God made itself evident. As soon as Mariah and Luis began to dance the oil of the Holy Spirit fell on all of us. I remember looking at the photos I was taking in awe of what I was seeing. I share this part of the days’ story as a reminder of surrendering to God in your creative process, trusting Him to provide your needs, and trusting Him to pull through when something goes wrong, or when there doesn’t seem to be a way, He will make a way for His glory. 

I have spent time editing these photos, studying the way the light hits Mariah and Luis, and seeing the impact of the dimming of the shadows and the contrast of the light to the color in the images. The Glory of the Lord is we become less and He becomes greater. While editing these photos I was intentional with taking down the contrast on the images of Mariah and Luis while highlighting the light in between each movement, and each pose. This was for the Glory to be shown, as all that we do is for the glory of God. 

What started as a day full of our plan morphed into something much greater and much better. I have learned to give God my eyes, my hands, and my words as I create because it is for the world to know His beauty, His people, and His story. This is just one small example of the story He is continuing to write.
